Zircon ceramics refers to ceramics mainly composed of zircon (ZrSiO4).
Properties: Zirconium (ZrSiO4) ceramics have good thermal shock resistance, acid resistance and chemical stability, but have poor alkali resistance. Zircon ceramics have low thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity, and their flexural strength can be maintained at 1200~1400 °C without falling, but its mechanical properties are poor, and the production process is similar to that of general special ceramics.
application:
1) Zircon has been widely used as an acid refractory material in low-alkali aluminoborosilicate glass furnaces for producing glass spheres and glass fibers. Zircon ceramics have high dielectric properties and mechanical properties. Can be used as electrical insulators and spark plugs;
2) Mainly used for making high-strength high-temperature electric porcelain, porcelain boat, crucible, high-temperature kiln bearing set, melting glass furnace lining, infrared radiation ceramic, etc.;
3) can be made into thin-walled products - enamel, thermowell, nozzle, thick-walled products - mortar, etc.;
4) Studies have shown that zircon has chemical stability, mechanical stability, thermal stability and radiation stability, and has good containment ability for lanthanides such as U, Pu, Am, Np, Nd, Pa, etc. Steel medium high radioactive waste (HLW) ideal medium material;
At present, the research on the relationship between the production process of zircon ceramics and its mechanical properties has not been reported, which hinders the further study of its performance to a certain extent, and the application of zircon ceramics has been limited.
