US downturn in the home furnishing market has forced Yingdu Aluminum to close the Ohio extrusion plant

The continuing downturn in the US home market forced the US aluminum producer, Indalex Aluminum Solutions, to be forced to consider shutting down its Girard Aluminum Plant in Ohio.

A spokesperson for Yingdu Aluminum said that the reduced demand for aluminum doors and windows in the United States has caused the prospects of Girard's extrusion plant to be worrisome.

Yingdu Aluminum will make a formal decision by the end of January next year, but the company has officially communicated to the Federation its intention to discuss the future development of the extrusion plant next month.

Girard Extrusion Factory is the oldest and least efficient aluminum factory in Yingdu Aluminum, which mainly serves the construction industry. Nearly half of the factory's hourly work has been dismissed. The plant shut down an extrusion line in August due to technical problems and fired 45 employees. Another 85 employees stopped work in October.
