Alcan Slovakia Plant Targets 25,000 Tons of Soft Alloy Extrusion

Alcoa Extrusion's Slovak factory, which invests US$35 million in the company's investment, plans to produce 25,000 tons of soft alloy extrusions in four years.

It is expected that the annual sales of the Slovak plant will reach US$67.72 million and create 200 jobs near the small Levice town in western Slovakia.

Reinhard Fleer, president of Alcan Extrusions, told reporters that Eastern Europe is a growing market, especially in the soft alloy extrusions industry. He said that the company expects to participate in the growth of the Eastern European market, develop customers locally, and supply products to them.

Alcan stated that the Slovak factory will supply products to customers such as PSA Peugeot Citroen, Volkswagen and Kia Motors as well as customers in neighboring Poland and Hungary. These automakers own car assembly plants in Slovakia.

Alcan stated that the Slovak factory will also supply products to the local construction and transportation industry.
