The perovskite material recently developed by Liu Shengzhong’s team has a large light absorption coefficient. By preparing extremely thin films, it can absorb and use sunlight. In addition, the perovskite film is excellent in mechanical properties, so it can be used to produce high-efficiency flexible solar cells.
With no prior work experience, Liu Shengzhong's team must start from scratch. In order to find suitable low-temperature processable materials, they spent a lot of time and did a lot of work from theoretical analysis to feasibility testing in experiments. Yang Dong said: "Perovskite solar cells are not only highly efficient, but also can be made into flexible devices.
