Paper waste bricks: construction costs will be greatly reduced

A long time ago there had been a technology for making bricks from waste paper, but the paper bricks produced were very easy to catch fire and their durability was not high. Now the National Institute of Technology of India has developed a new paper brick manufacturing process that can make paper bricks safer and more practical.

It is understood that this type of brick is made of 90% recycled waste paper plus 10% cement. After being mechanically mixed, it is placed in a mold. Finally, it can be dried in the sun.

These bricks have been used to create false ceilings and interior compartments. A waterproof layer can be added to the exterior wall. According to the Institute’s staff, besides waste paper, materials such as Styrofoam, plastic fibers, straws, polystyrene fibers and waste cotton can also be used to make bricks. The cost of making bricks from these recycled materials will be 50% less than regular bricks.
