According to the Nikkei BP News Agency, Japan Mori Seiki Co., Ltd. began accepting orders for the large vertical machining center "MV-1003L". This product adopts the same high-rigidity structure as the previous model "MV-1003B", and increases the stroke of the X-axis and the width of the work surface of the table, thereby expanding the processing range. Suitable for machining difficult-to-cut materials such as aircraft parts. The price is 70.54 million yen.
Like the 1003B, the 1003L uses a thick-walled casting at the column and the bed to obtain rigidity that can support heavy cutting. In addition, the sliding surface of each shaft uses a material with a small frictional resistance, and adopts a semi-floating method in which the load is reduced by air and lubricating oil during the X/Y axis feeding process. Thereby, positioning and feeding achieve high speed and high precision.
The X-axis stroke has been extended from the previous 2400mm to 3500mm. The width of the work surface of the table has been expanded from 2,800 mm to 3,900 mm, thereby making it possible to process workpieces of a larger size than before. However, the maximum load capacity of the workbench has been reduced from 5000kg to 4000kg. There are four types of spindles, including a high output type with a torque of 1317 N·m (30 minutes) and a high speed type with a motor.
A total of 13 spiral chip conveyors are arranged inside the machine to make the chips easy to discharge outside the machine. The machine is equipped with a chip conveyor with a hinged and squeegee-integrated drum filter to smoothly transport the chips of various materials and lengths to the chip bucket.
