Hitachi Maxell announced on February 4, 2014 that it has begun receiving orders for the "EnergyStation Type H" lithium ion battery system for wall-mounted indoor use. The system is connected to a dedicated controller to measure household electricity consumption, as well as fuel cell, solar cell, and other power generation.
Hitachi Maxell has been accepting the fuselage thickness of only 130mm since August 2014. It is the world's smallest and lightest grade, and supports orders for HEMS (Home Energy Management System) power storage system "EnergyStation Type C" system. Due to its compact size that can be placed horizontally in the limited space of the room, it can be sold to high-class apartments, houses, small offices, etc. The "EnergyStation Type H" that starts the order now meets the "Type C" requirement for wall mounting. Its compact size is 155mm thick and weighs about 30kg. It comes with special mounting hardware that can be mounted in a wall-mounted style.
Due to the adoption of a power storage system, it is possible to charge at low electricity rates during the night, discharge electricity at high electricity rates, and save electricity costs by shifting peaks. In addition, it can also be used as an emergency power source in the event of a large-scale power outage. And said that the power storage system is also equipped with a UPS function that can automatically detect power outages and switch to battery operation mode within a moment (0.01 seconds or less).
The power storage system is connected to a dedicated controller “ES controller†that conforms to the ECHONET Lite standard, and can measure the amount of power used by households and the amount of power generated by solar cells, fuel cell cogeneration systems, and the like.
In recent years, power storage systems have become popular as emergency backup power supplies and devices that effectively use late-night power and photovoltaic power. Moreover, together with HEMS, it is possible to measure the amount of power used in the home and the amount of power generated by the solar cells, and the HEMS controls the power storage system, which also helps to save daily electricity bills. However, Hitachi Maxell said that in some apartment buildings, existing homes, and cold regions, it is impossible to install power storage systems outdoors, so the demand for small, light-weight systems that can be easily installed indoors is rising.
