Guangdong Dongguan Sinopec canteen gas leak explosion has caused 4 deaths

Located on the fourth floor of Block B, Zhongqiao Building, Dongguan, Guangdong Province, the Sinopec staff canteen exploded on March 3 due to a gas leak. March 16 was informed from the Municipal Safety Production Committee that as of now, the accident has caused 4 deaths and 29 injuries. At present, there are still 12 injured people in hospitalization, of which 2 are in critical condition.

It is reported that after the accident, Dongguan carried out a major gas safety inspection, which lasted for one month. This inspection focuses on the gas facilities used in the catering industry and the collective canteens, and at the same time strengthens the publicity of common sense about gas safety. The Dongguan City Safety Committee will organize 11 inspection teams at the end of this month to supervise the inspection of towns and streets.

The director of the Dongguan City Bureau of Safety Supervision Mo Yanquan said that it will expedite the investigation and handling of the explosion accident in ZhongQiao Tower, seriously investigate the responsibility of the accidents of the relevant units and responsible persons, and use this as a negative teaching material to increase the head of the business owners and enterprises. Promote publicity and education, alerting more companies to implement their main responsibilities.

According to statistics, from January to February of this year, a total of 595 production safety accidents occurred in Dongguan City, resulting in 63 deaths, 672 injuries and economic losses of RMB 807,900. Including 591 road traffic accidents, an increase of 71 from the same period last year, resulting in a total of 59 deaths, causing the largest number of deaths in all accidents. In addition, three accidents occurred in the industrial and mining enterprises, resulting in the death of three people; one accident occurred in the water traffic accident and one death occurred.
