Design of the CAD system of spline broach

1 Introduction

The spline broach is widely used in the processing of spline holes as an efficient and high-precision multi-tooth complex tool. Due to the many parameters involved in the design of the spline broach, the calculation amount is large, and the tooth shape design is cumbersome, the design cycle is long. In addition, since the spline broach is a complicated finishing tool, the manufacturing cost is high, and if a calculation error occurs during design, a large economic loss will be caused. In order to improve the design precision and shorten the design cycle of the spline broach, the author developed the CAD system of the spline broach based on AutoCAD 2000, which can realize the computer aided design and drawing of the spline broach in the AutoCAD 2000 environment.

2 system application objects and composition

Application object

Depending on the workpiece being machined, the design of the spline broach generally has the following three conditions:

When the coaxiality of the inner and outer diameters of the spline hole to be processed is low, the process usually requires that the inner diameter of the hole has reached the required machining precision before broaching. In this case, only one processing spline portion is required to be drawn. Knife;

When the coaxiality of the inner and outer diameters of the spline hole to be processed is high, it is necessary to design a composite broach capable of chamfering, broaching round holes and splines;

When processing deep groove spline holes or rough drawing and forging holes, it is often necessary to design multiple broaches to form a spline broach set for processing. Therefore, the design modules of the spline broach, the round hole-chamfered tooth-spline composite broach and the spline broach set are respectively established. The user can select different design modules according to the processing conditions to design the corresponding spline broach.

System Components

This system is a spline broach CAD system developed on a microcomputer. It adopts the mixed programming technology of Visual C++ 6.0 and ObjectARX 3.0 (second development software of AutoCAD 2000) and the idea of ​​modular programming. It can be used for spline broach. Design and drawing of composite spline broach and spline broach set.

System operating environment

Hardware environment: PC microcomputer (PII450, 32M memory, 10G hard disk);

Software environment: WINDOWS95 / 98 / 2000 operating system, Visual C++ 6.0, ObjectARX 3.0 and Access database software and other application development tools.

Overall system structure

The overall structure of the system is shown in Figure 1.

The system consists of five functional modules:

System main interface design module

The function of the module is to select the parameter input and processing conditions by means of dialog box, and can manage and manage other modules to realize the overall design of the spline broach;

Spline broach design module

The module is the core part of the system, which is divided into three sub-modules, namely three design sub-modules: spline broach, compound broach and spline broach set. Its main function is to complete the determination of the broach structure form, the selection of the broaching method (ie ordinary or wheel cutting), the spline tooth edge design, the chamfer tooth geometric parameter design, the circular hole tooth geometric parameter design, the cutting parameters. Determination, chip flute and chip flute design, spline broach strength and broach pull force check, spline broach cutting part of the tooth number determination, tooth size calculation, structural size design and technical conditions Ok.

Database management module

Since a large amount of data needs to be viewed from the tool design manual in the design of the spline broach, a database is created using the Access software, and the data involved in the broach design is stored in the database in the form of a data table. The main function of the database management module is to perform various manipulations and maintenance on the database through its interface, and store the query results in the data file for the drawing module or other modules to call.

Graphics processing module

There are many contents in the broach working diagram, including the overall view of the broach, the partial view of the tooth profile of various teeth, the partial view of the cutting part and the calibration part, the workpiece drawing and the size list and technical requirements of each tooth. Wait. In order to realize the parametric drawing of the spline broach, the system decomposes the content on the working diagram of the spline broach into unit blocks, and uses the objectARX 3.0 to compile the corresponding parameterized drawing program for debugging and application of the program.

Help module

The help module provides the user with detailed instructions for using the various functional modules of the software.
